With the arrival of summer, the intensity of the sun intensified. The echoes of climate change and global warming are causing skin pricks. Water consumption has increased. The water has receded. The sun has also started absorbing water from the heat of the nature. No one knows from where this water will flow, where it will remain in what form for how long? Where will it come back to the earth and when it will irrigate which part of the earth? All we know is that life on the earth, both in micro and macro forms, begins with water and ends in water. Life cannot be imagined without water. Without water, the earth would also become lifeless like a stone. Its green living earth system will not survive without water in the vicinity. Then we too will not be saved. Still we are wasting water openly. The economic and material developments are happening at the cost of water, life and soil and continuing the same pathway is not useful for us. We have to understand this. The development happening at the cost of the natural ecosystems of our
earth system cannot be sustainable. The development taking place at the cost of our health and human sensibilities will always remain in the dock. Can development go against its biological and natural systems of origin? The answer is no. If our earth system had accepted such a system of mono dimensional development, then today we would not be facing the threat of climate change and wars.
So does war also have a relation with the philosophy of this market-centred development system? People are involved in some kind of war all the time. Sometimes between two countries, sometimes between two cultures, sometimes between religions and castes. And then this war continues to explode hatred and violence in families, individuals and minds. The haphazard and destructive energy generated from it keeps on increasing entropy and depleting the invaluable resources. This tendency of war has kept us at war against our mother earth and its nature,
and that too in the name of science and development. This development system has also turned against the most important element of life, water, and we are not able to find a proper way out of this situation.
The ever-evolving civilizations of man have used the knowledge based on the same of science and was generated from thought and experience since time immemorial for their facilities in their own way. Although the systems of water management in ancient civilizations are authentically and universally available only on the basis of some excavation estimates and old structures, it can be assumed that the development of people’s knowledge based science in those societies was achieved with the input from ‘experts’ and the common people. There has also been a
need-based participation. Modern science is increasingly focused on the creation and marketing of a marketable technology to suit the needs of experts and market systems in Western countries, especially Europe, America and other developed and developing countries. It considers the people as mere consumer. Due to this, the participation of the general public in the development of knowledge of science is not being recorded today. No development can be sustainable without the participation of the people and honouring of the natural system of the mighty earth. People
cannot participate in the knowledge generation as mere consumers. The energy within them and the chaos arising out of the disintegration of the natural system will, with its destructive force, shatter the fruits of this development rapidly. Climate change, global warming, loss of invaluable natural resources, pollution of water, land, air and food, and most of all the inner chaos of human societies and people’s minds are the result of the conceptualization of science and
economy which is knowingly-unknowingly standing up against the earth and the human systems. We have to understand this chaos arising out of the nexus of science, technology and market and accept science as public knowledge generation with people participation, people oriented philosophies and a method of action. We have to revive the earth systems of water and determine the wide participation of people in its operation, so that our life can be saved. May the earth be green and save the life of the earth. The natural system that has been going on since ancient
time as immemorial ecosystem should be preserved. Any proper management of economy and human society is not possible without the systems inclusive of all societies’ nature of man and all ecosystems.
